Liver functions
The liver is a master "multi-tasker" because it performs a
wide variety of functions that include (but are not limited
to):
- filtering toxic materials which can damage the
body,
- making certain amino acids, which important for the
production of protein,
- processing of carbohydrates, protein and fats,
- producing most of the cholesterol in the body,
- producing substances that break down fats,
- manufacturing urea, the main substance of urine,
- storing of glucose and certain vitamins,
- synthesizing proteins.
