Stomach cancer symptom basics

A stomach cancer symptom can often be mistaken for a symptom of other diseases or illnesses. So if you start to experience any of the following symptoms, don't wait to see a doctor. The earlier stomach cancer is diagnosed, the better the chances of a cure and recovery.

In the early stages, a stomach cancer symptom might be non-specific. There may even be no symptoms at all. But if you're experiencing any of the following conditions on a frequent basis, you should seek medical attention. Any or all may be a stomach cancer symptom.

generalized mild discomfort,

heartburn,

indigestion,

mild nausea.

A stomach cancer tumor is small in the beginning. As it grows however, it can spread to other organs, at which time it's much harder to treat and cure.

In the late stages, a stomach cancer symptom becomes more specific. Unfortunately, by the time such symptoms present themselves, the stomach cancer is not longer just a tumor: the cancer has spread or metastasized to other organs. Typically, stomach cancer spreads to the esophagus, lungs, lymph nodes, liver, small intestine or colon.

Sadly, because a stomach cancer symptom is hard to diagnose and not very apparent in the early stages, 80-90 percent of stomach cancer patients don't realize they have stomach cancer symptoms until the later stages. Later stage stomach cancer symptoms

loss of appetite,

weight loss.
